Topic 1: Developing a comprehensive framework for sustainable peace, political stability, and ethnic reconciliation in Myanmar

Myanmar has long struggled with political instability and ethnic tensions, with conflicts between the central government and various ethnic groups persisting for decades. Efforts to achieve lasting peace have been hindered by deep-seated grievances, military interventions, and contested governance structures. While past agreements and peace processes have attempted to address these issues, instability continues to undermine national unity and development. The question remains: how can Myanmar establish a framework that ensures sustainable peace, political stability, and reconciliation among its diverse communities? The committee must explore viable solutions that promote inclusive governance, conflict resolution, and long-term stability in the region.

Topic 2: Reforming the peacekeeping system to tackle the current dysfunctions

United Nations peacekeeping operations have long played a crucial role in conflict resolution, yet their effectiveness has been increasingly called into question. Issues such as inadequate mandates, limited resources, and allegations of misconduct have undermined their credibility and ability to maintain peace. With conflicts growing more complex and peacekeepers often deployed in volatile regions without clear political solutions, the system faces significant challenges. The committee must assess how peacekeeping missions can be reformed to address these dysfunctions, ensuring they remain a reliable tool for global stability while upholding their core principles of neutrality, legitimacy, and effectiveness.
